A philanthropic marvel of a project is getting underway in the village of Corfu this coming March.
Under the sponsorship of Mrs. Mary Dix and her son Tom Dix of Jay E. Potters Lumber, a legacy business in this modest little village, ART in its many forms will be used to help reintroduce a sense of community that once flourished in Corfu. Here on the site of the very cornerstone of this crossroad village, in the historical bank building, a group of artists have embarked on a journey which they hope will include the entirety of, well, everyone.
Curious? Perhaps the most interesting of the curiosities gathering in this new art space is the renowned art of our own local artist, Mr. Charlie Flagg. If anyone can usher in a new generation of community good will, good company, and good fine painting, it’s the charming and talented Charlie Flagg. If you are not familiar with this local legend, all the more reason to “ C’mon in “ and share what Corfu will now offer.
In good company with well- established local talent Susan Weber, and Village resident artist Mark Zimmermann, the MURAL FACTORY opens its doors on March 18th. From NOON until 5:00 pm, these three will welcome you, share a story with you, and find comfort in your story. Oh, and while enjoying refreshments, and a tour of the wonderful old building, you are welcome to enjoy the art. The project itself is part of an ongoing campaign to make Corfu, NY “A Picture Perfect Place” through the use of murals, art, and commerce.
Finally, visitors will discover not only the art, but a welcoming studio for their own artistic endeavors including displays, demonstrations, painting classes, lectures, visiting artists, and even shared space to develop and practice their creativity.
You don’t have to be an artist! Everyone is invited to stop in and meet these folks who share your story, your message, and your interest in making our community something special.

PCD Kiwanis Annual Car Cruise and Fall Festival

The PCD Kiwanis 14th Annual Car Cruise and Fall Festival will be held on Sunday, September 17th at the Pembroke Town Park from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. To pre-register your car, or become a vendor, download the applications at pcdkiwanis.com. The first 125 registered will receive a unique dash plaque.
There will be something for everyone including 55+ vendors, a HUGE basket raffle from Crossroads House, Connect Life Blood Drive (you can be pre register on their website), inflatable slide, train rides, a magician and great food with many food trucks and awesome music including the Pembroke Community Band.
Rain or Shine event. COVID guidelines will be followed.

2nd Annual Autumn in the Village: Call for Vendors!

The Better Corfu Association is looking for vendors for our 2nd annual Autumn in the Village celebration. Artists, crafters and produce vendors are all welcome to apply. For an application, please contact Better Corfu Chairman Mikel Doktor at [email protected] or contact the Village office at 585.599.3327
Application Process: Applications from new vendors must be accompanied by three photos (2 close-ups of you’re your work and one of your display).
Application Deadline: Application Deadline is Sept 11, 2021. After this date, spaces may be assigned to new vendors at the sole discretion of the Better Corfu Chairman.
Selection Process: The Better Corfu Association reserves the right to accept or reject entrants on the basis of the photos of merchandise submitted.
Fees: The fee for a 12 x 12 single space is $30.00 and a 12 x 24 double space is $60.00.

The Market runs every Monday from 4:00pm-7:00pm now through October. It’s located in the parking lot of the Corfu United Presbyterian Church, 63 Allegheny Road.
The market provides fresh, homegrown produce options, crafts and food trucks to the residents of Corfu and visitors. Come join us!

On Monday, March 22, 2021 the Crossroads House will be having a virtual book club, and everyone’s invited!
Below you will find a flyer with the details and contact information. Pull up a cozy chair, snuggle in with the dog or cat and pour yourself a cup of whatever suits your fancy. You can pick up a copy of the book on Amazon or via your retailer of choice.
This virtual book club is open to anyone and will be hosted using Zoom. Please RSVP by March 10th. We hope you’ll join them!

All donors will receive a coupon for a free Paula’s donut! Donors must be 18 years of age or older to donate.

This great fundraiser has now started. The goal is to light up the Village of Corfu with Trees on everyone’s front yard or porch. This will coincide with the lighting of the tree at the Presbyterian Church(details to come). These trees are available on a first come, first serve basis. Sending in a check does NOT guarantee at tree.

The trees are Douglas fir, they have soft needles, about 1 inch in length.

2020 Village Scarecrow Contest

Help us bring the village alive with the spirit of the season by creating a unique scarecrow to display during our inaugural Autumn in the Village celebration!
Design a custom scarecrow to display in front of your home from October 24 – November 1. They can be attached to a mailbox or in front of the house (please do not attach them to road signs or light poles). Scarecrows must be made in good taste and weather-resistant.
Participants must maintain the scarecrow while on display.

Crossroads House Garage Sale

The Crossroads House in Batavia will be having an impromptu garage sale at 11 Liberty Street. Although much smaller than their annual garage sale due to restrictions on public gatherings, “the show must go on!” Volunteers have been busy pricing a wide variety of treasures including glassware, collectibles, household items, and a few pieces of furniture. Garage access will be limited to a few people at a time, social distancing measures will be in place, and masks will be required.
This sale is to not only help fill the funding gap left by cancelled fundraisers but also to move out merchandise that would have sold at their summer sale.
The sale will be held on Friday, October 9th from 9-2, and Saturday, October 10th from 9-12. (No early birds, please).

The Fall Roll Off is scheduled for:
- Friday, September 11, 7am – 2pm
- Saturday, September 12th, 8am – 11am
For our protection and yours, our employees will not be able to remove items from your vehicles. We will ask residents to put items in bucket of skid loader to dispose. We cannot accept the following items: tires, oil, garbage, toxic materials, refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners, unless Freon has been removed. Paint cans will only be accepted if empty and lid removed. We will accept car batteries, couches, stoves, dishwashers and mattresses.

PCD Kiwanis 13th Annual Car Cruise and Fall Festival
September 20, 2020 11am - 4pm
The PCD (Pembroke, Corfu Darien) Kiwanis 13th Annual Car Cruise and Fall Festival will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Pembroke Town Park (next to the Pembroke High School). This is a rain or shine event. There is something for everyone. Besides having 200+ amazing cars, trucks and tractors, we have kids activities which include our 2nd Annual Free Kids Car Cruise (8 yrs. and under) which is from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., a huge basket raffle by Crossroads House and a huge variety of vendors from many areas, raffles, great music with DJ Hank Nevins, food from Crossroads House and food trucks.
The car registration begins at 9:00 a.m. Pre-Registration fee is $10 per car and it is $15 registration the day of the cruise for all participants non pre-registered. Proceeds benefit PCD Kiwanis Kids Projects in our community. Unique Dash Plaques/Goody bags only guaranteed for first 100 cars. The Dash Plaque is very unique and it is made from car, truck or motorcycle parts. We have several participants that pre-register every year so they are guaranteed a dash plaque. Each years dash plaque is unveiled the morning of the car cruise. Participant Vote - Trophies awarded at 3:00 p.m. Download your car registration application at pcdkiwanis.com and submit prior to September 10, 2020 for the discounted rate. Vendor Space is $20 for a 10'x10' space and Food vendor space is $100. There is no charge for non profit organizations but you must complete a vendor application. Better Corfu - Adopt A Pot

Better Corfu is a new committee of local residents dedicated to making Corfu a better place to live, play and work. Our first project is a flower pot adoption program. The committee will be placing planters filled with flowers around the village and is offering the opportunity to show your local pride by sponsoring a pot! Each sponsorship is $20, and your pot will be marked with your name.
The pots will be put in place by Memorial Day, May 25, 2020.

Corfu Presbyterian Church Food Pantry - Donations Requested

Over the weekend The Corfu Presbyterian Church Food Pantry had another successful pick up at the food pantry. However, the number of families has increased and even though they were able to accommodate everyone, their supply is running low.
Community Help Needed!
The Corfu Presbyterian Church Food Pantry has an increased need of supplies and is seeking donations.
- Dry goods
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fruits
- Food items that can be made from a box or out of a can
- Paper products
- Puzzles
- Puzzle books
- Other food or activity items welcomed!
The Corfu Police Department can pick up and deliver supplies - just leave a bag of items on your porch and let the Village Office know so then pick up arrangements can be made. Please contact the Village Office at (585) 599-3327 for pick up arrangements.

There will be a Pembroke Teachers Parade through the village of Corfu on April 3rd. The parade should proceed through the village around 2:30pm - 3:30pm. Feel free to get outside and wave to support the Pembroke School District! Please be safe, enjoy and maintain proper distance.
