Fire Department

Corfu Rescue Hook & Ladder Co. #1, incorporated in 1882, provides fire, rescue, and first responder emergency medical services to the citizens of Corfu, NY.

The department is looking for volunteers. The benefits of volunteering include free fire and EMS training, educational assistance and scholarships, being able to serve your friends and neighbors, social interaction and community involvement. You can be as involved as you want to be. Not every member fights fires - you can help by training as an EMT (emergency medical technician), fire police or house person, and 16 and 17 year olds can join as active with restrictions. To be an active member (firefighter, EMS personnel and fire police) you must be at least 18, in good health and able to pass a physical exam, and participate in at least 2 practices per quarter (to include OSHA and required start training). A house person is a member that is not a emergency responder, who attends monthly meetings, helps with fund raising, and can deliver food to active members during a call.

Our phone number is 585.599.3618. For more information on joining or to request a membership application, stop by the Fire Hall on any Monday night or contact Dean Eck,  Assistant Chief at 585.993.3744 or Greg Lang, Chief at 585.507.9245.
